Singles Winter League
7 October 2024For the Winter of 2024/25 the club will be running monthly box leagues for singles play in lieu of the Winter Singles Ladder.
Box Leagues are very popular in squash clubs for providing internal competitive play, and encouraging matches to be completed.
We are hoping to have initially 3 leagues running and they will be open to all adults and all juniors who are capable of playing for the senior teams.
Matches are to be played using LTA “Fast 4” scoring, best of 3 sets i.e. first to 2 sets wins.
Sets are played using normal tennis scoring but to 4 games only, first to 4 games wins the set.
If a set gets to 3 games all, then a tie break is played to five points, first to 5 points wins the set [by any margin].
Re-spin a racket for the first serve of the tie break.
[Normal] Service lets are to be played if the ball catches the net chord [slight departure from true Fast 4].
Fast 4 is intended to enable match completion within an hour including a suitable warm up.
Notify Ed Sawer or Jack Jackson if you intend to participate, ideally before 12th October 2024 to enter the October period league. Contact numbers can be found in the Members’ Area of the Website.
